Commissioned by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) for the new Vision and Rehabilitation Institute, Pittsburgh, PA, 2023

VITAL combines a wall-sized mural of a photorealistic tree with a video projection of the tree's leaves and branches swaying in the breeze. This innovative method of combining subtractive and additive image-making produces a new type of powerful illusion. VITAL uses light in new ways to welcome all to the new Vision and Rehabilitation Institute with a ‘living’ universal symbol of health and life.
